Position Overview: Gas & Chemical Engineer - Facilities Team

Tesla is actively seeking a skilled Gas & Chemical Engineer to contribute to the Facilities team at Gigafactory Texas. In this role, you will be integral in ensuring the smooth operation of gas and chemical systems, playing a vital role in Tesla's mission of sustainable energy. As a Gas & Chemical Engineer, responsibilities include various aspects of operations, maintenance, and process improvements related to gas and chemical systems.

Responsibilities: What You'll Do

  • Execute gas and chemical system operations, including monitoring, sustaining operations, maintenance, and process/equipment improvements.

  • Review and analyze data, monitoring equipment to identify trends and ensure processes are within specifications.

  • Apply Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) concepts and root cause failure analysis to open-ended problems.

  • Evaluate process requirements, specify new gas and chemical delivery systems, and support future scenario planning.

  • Coordinate commissioning of equipment and facilities, develop pre-startup procedures, and ensure operational readiness.

  • Prepare proposals for facility modifications, control & safety schemes, and process operating parameter enhancements.

  • Participate in Process Hazard reviews and analysis, including HAZOP/HAZID/SIL studies.


Qualifications: What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.

  • Minimum of 4 years of gas and chemical systems operations experience; semiconductor facility, refining, or battery manufacturing facility support preferred.

  • Hazardous production material (HPM) expertise.

  • Strong data and system analysis skills.

  • Solid troubleshooting background and issue resolution capability.

  • High tolerance for change and strong teamwork and communication skills.

  • Experience in the design and installation of gas and chemical equipment, commissioning, and performance testing.
